why "sutra"

One idea. Held short enough to keep.

A sutra, in its original sense, is a thread — a teaching compressed into something short enough to remember and dense enough to unpack for years. That is the format this site is built around.

Every post here opens with one sentence: the sutra. Everything below it is the commentary — the walkthrough, the code, the edge case that actually matters. If you only ever read the opening line of every post on this site, you would still walk away with something true.

Topics are whatever a working developer runs into and has to actually understand, not just copy-paste: language fundamentals, algorithms, git, and the everyday tools covered in more depth over at tools.syntaxsutra.com.
